3rd Grade Ancient Greek Vases

3rd Graders love myths and legends! What a great way to introduce Ancient Greek Pottery!
We learned all about the different types of pottery styles and their uses. We talked about different Greek heros and mythological stories. They chose a Greek God or Goddess to create on their pottery. They could also choose a myth as well! These are black and white crayon on orange paper. The culminating project was a scratch art technique on black paper. Pictures to follow!

Kindergarten and Kandinsky

Circles and Circles!  Russian artist Wassily Kandinsky loved to paint them! Kindergarten artists used cups and black paint to stamp circles in an overlapping manner all over their paper. Then the next week, they chose what colors to paint and created these masterpieces!

First Grade Ceramic Texture Bowls

1st grade had just finished up a project about artist Jasper Johns and his use of the Alphabet when I had this great idea! I knew I wanted to move onto clay and I wanted there to be a connection with the Jasper John's use of letters and numbers. I decided to incorporate alphabet and number stamps in the texture options of the bowls and they turned out really cool! I used the slap roller to roll out slabs and they cut out their own bowl shape with a pattern. Then they explored a variety of stamps to create texture in their bowls.
